Hope you had a fantastic start to the year. I for one am already grateful for the way it has begun. The year ended with a bang offcourse by us partying with our close friends. The first day of 2018 begun with us going to the Chapel. It felt serene to sit in the Church compound while the kids played around and we did our talking to God.
I for one have never been a big fan of New Year resolutions. Mainly because of the fear of not keeping them, the fear of people judging me for not keeping them and the fear of self disappointment if I’m not able to fulfill them. Throughout my life I have tried many things often giving up when I got bored or when things got tough. N to add to it, it wasn’t easy when I was labeled by my own people that ‘she keeps giving up too soon’. Hence as you would imagine I never bothered with resolutions. I just assumed I’d give up. However towards the end of 2017, I was doing a bit of self realization and felt it from within to keep a few goals for the New Year. A few things to keep me accountable to myself and to no one else. So here it goes:
1. Quiet time
I used to wake up early to pray, to connect with God, to bond with the ultimate source of love and with time, having the boys etc.. it reduced to as and when I have the time. However I have realized that I am the best version of me when I love myself, the way God loves me. And for that I need time apart to meditate, to connect and to learn. It allows me to brush away the negative thoughts and concentrate on the uplifting ones.
It allows me to be joyful from within, living life to the fullest and spreading love wherever I am and in whatever I do.
2. Concentrating on weight training and fitness
I love weight training but have to admit, I haven’t been regular at the gym in the last few months. I would still work out but often taking large breaks. This year I am concentrating on a particular program that I have created for myself concentrating on making some muscle gains. I can maybe talk about that in another post at some point.
3. Writing atleast one post a week on my website
Let’s be honest here. I am not some swanky writer and I have never claimed to be one. Hence there is the inherent hesitation, will people read what I write. Am I able to communicate my point clearly enough? The fear of people rejecting my post. But this year I feel different. I feel strong enough to write, strong enough to show my weakness and how I deal with it all. Maybe you’ll be interested in reading and maybe you wont. But I am writing to pen down my thoughts and having this as a resolution, keeps me accountable to myself. Hopefully I wont slack off, n if I do, pls hola..
4. Getting more organized with my daily tasks
I used to be super organized. Did I mention used to? I love physically writing down my to do list in my planner. Oh n did I mention I always have a few of them lying around (don’t ask). I love organizing parties for my kids, or events for the family or even managing things around the house. This year I have just decided to get back to my game of being organized and thus not having an excuse like ‘I just got too busy’ for any of my other resolutions.
5. Traveling to atleast four news countries
This is more of a wish than a resolution. I would really like to see four new countries this year. You may ask why four? Cos last year I traveled quite a bit, however only two new countries out of that from all my travels - Norway and Bhutan, both of which I loved. I LOVE to travel. It brings out the happy in me. I haven’t reached a stage where I travel to blog, or where I get invited to travel to blog… but I’m hoping that one day I would. Till then I’ll do my own travels and share my pics and thoughts with you all.
Tigers Nest, Paro, Bhutan
So this just about sums up my aspirations for the year ahead. 2018 has only begun and I'm going to give it my best to keep to it. Let me know if you have your own resolutions?
