We just did a trip with the family to Dubai. Packing is completely different when it comes to travelling with family and travelling by yourself. When you are with kids, comfort and easiness to maneuver is prime. I will be putting up a post on travel essentials when travelling with children once I am back from my next trip.
In the meantime these are some of the essentials I pack for a summer getaway.
SPF 100 for the face It is very important to wear a strong SPF on your face. It helps prolong fine lines and freckles, protects the face against brown spots and skin discolorations caused by the sun and not to mention protection against the harsh UV rays. I swear by the Bioderma Photoderm Max for the face.
Tanning oil with SPF I am Indian with brown skin. There is nothing more hideous to have white paste like sunscreen all over your body especially when you are out on the beach in a bikini. Hence I use a tanning oil with SPF. This product leaves you with a healthy glow.
Lip Balm The heat, being out in the sun, lack of water often dried up your lips and before you know it they are chapped. A good moisturizing lip balm is an essential for any travel. I have used several lip balms over the years. Currently I am using the Avene emollient balm which is working wonders for my lips.
Sun hat There are so many types of hats in stores during summer. Large floppy hats to smaller Fedora hats. I would say try out a few to see what suits your face structure the best. This is the hat I love and use the most at the moment. I'm also on the lookout for a white Fedora.
Lace up sandals We often carry several pairs of shoes while travelling. Tie up or lace up sandals are big in trend this summer. Be it in the form of gladiator or boho chic flats, tip up sandals add a feminine flirty touch to a summer dress.
Style accessories When you are on holiday, you tend to be stress free. You take the time to dress well, accessorize etc. During summer time when you are showing more skin, I would highly recommend adding one or two accessories to your look. From head pieces, shoulder chains, statement cuffs, waist chains, anklets to toe rings, these days there are accessories to beautify every part of your body. So go ahead and take the time to indulge in a piece or two.

Off shoulder top If you have been following my instagram you would have noticed that I am in love with the off shoulder trend and have been wearing a lot of off shoulder tops, rompers and dresses. You can pair it with jeans, wide legged trousers, shorts, midi skirts to almost anything and it looks good on almost everyone irrespective of body type.
Swimwear Whether you can swim or not, you can always relax by the pool or the beach. Whether a bikini or a one piece swimsuit, its a must to have for a summer holiday. There is nothing more soothing on a scorching day than a dip in the pool.
Hope this blog post was useful to you. Do let me know what you consider an essential for a summer holiday. Follow me on Snapchat 'thestyletherapy' to see what accessories I wear for my summer holiday.
