Here in Oman, we hardly go through seasons apart from the hot summers to the slightly cooler winters. For the love of fashion and style, I still manage to convince myself that adopting the four seasons into my lifestyle is absolutely permissible. When it comes to beauty regimes, I'm not married to any specific brand . I like to experiment with different brands/products and apply those which best suit my skin/hair for the moment. Keeping this in mind and with spring approaching, these are my top 5 beauty recommendations for the season.
1. Forest Essentials Vitamin E moisturizing body cream
The winter months are drawing to an end and its time to bring out the spring culottes and dresses. Since more skin will be out on display, it’s of utmost importance that our skin is thoroughly moisturized. Forest Essentials is an Ayurvedic brand from India, which prides itself in utilizing organically grown cold pressed oils, to raw unprocessed cane sugar to their steam distilled pure essential oils. Besides the fact that it’s an organic brand I am in love with the rich velvety texture of the cream that melts into the skin. A tad bit applied on your body and you are left with a divine lingering fragrance for many hours throughout the day. This is a staple item on my bedside table that I typically apply before going to bed at night.
I normally purchase this cream when I travel to India. You can buy it online at:
2. Macadamia Professional weightless moisturizing conditioner
Being Indian, I’ve been genetically blessed with thick shiny tresses. People often ask me what’s the secret behind my luscious hair? I’d have to say coconut oil. I don’t apply it often enough, but on the occasions I do, my hair is so much softer and easier to ply with afterwards. I don’t stick to any particular shampoo or conditioner. Off late I tried the Macadamia Professional weightless moisturizing conditioner and I’m absolutely in love with the product. It leaves my hair so supple and soft which makes it extremely easy for a blowdry or even a rough dry. It even has a lovely scent that lingers on your hair, an out –n – out winner for me.
I have a weird combination type of skin. My cheeks and nose are relatively dry as compared to my forehead, nose and chin, which tend to get slightly oily. I hate it, absolutely loathe it when a face cream leaves your face feeling oily. I love the Clarins Multi-Active Day cream as its extremely lightweight and doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily. Your face is left feeling soft and smelling divine.
I also use the Clarins Multi-Active Day cream as a primer. Applying a primer usually smoothens the texture of your face and helps your makeup last longer. I don’t use a separate primer, as my skin is generally clear. Instead I apply the Clarins Multi-Active Day cream a few minutes before make up, let it seep in and voila my face is ready for that tad bit of makeup.
I purchase my Clarins cream from the Captial Store.
My nails tend to grow really fast. Hence it’s really important that I apply a cuticle oil so that my nails are thoroughly nourished and cuticles are not left dry and peeling. With the regular application of this Spa Ritual cuticle oil I usually extend getting a manicure done for upto 3 weeks and my nails manage to look reasonably good. It's an added bonus that the cuticle oil smells heavenly.
I purchase this Cuticle Oil from Dashing Nails at the Wave.
By now you would have guessed that smell is very important to me. From my room, to my pillows to my creams I take deep care in making sure things smell good around me. Hence its only natural that I would love perfumes. Fragrances are deeply personal as it mixes with each individual’s body chemistry and smells different from person to person. I have a fairly decent collection of perfumes and this limited edition of the Issey Miyake City Blossom is my outright favorite for the season. With a truly desirable feminine floral scent, there is something strong and distinctive about it that draws one in. I am totally in love with this ethereal smelling perfume.
