Most people I know, male and female included aspire for that flat tummy or some strive a notch higher and would love to see some abs. Abs is a phenomenon which has been promoted by the fitness marketing mafia like formula has been in the baby industry. Leaving aside the but obvious aesthetic beauty and sense of awe when you see a person with a six pack, a strong core is the fundamental powerhouse of your body. A sturdy core translates to improved posture, reduced back pain and enhanced sports/daily performance.
I cannot begin to express how grateful and excited I am to see myself in this pic. This is me 9 months post delivery of my second baby. Having gained 26 kilos this time around, I definitely had a lot of belly fat to loose. So you can imagine how stoked I am to see the abs develop. Still a long way to go but hey, I'm getting there.
I like most people used to think one can develop a six pack by doing 200-300 sit ups a day. Uh-haaa.. now I know better.
Steps to build a strong Torso:
First and foremost, build the core stability of your deep internal muscles close to the spine.
Build your core strength aka six packs.
Most of your body’s movements start from the center of your body (core) and then projects or moves outwards. Therefore its essential not only for fitness freaks but rather every human to have a stable and strong core.
Below are pics of some of the exercises I've been doing to help strengthen my core.
Caveat: This is my understanding of how to build a strong core. Please refer to a professional doctor before you undertake any form of exercise and seek the advise of a professional trainer before you embark on any training/workout.
Hope you enjoy your journey towards getting fit. As I always say, Fit is not a destination rather a journey. You will find daily motivating pics and quotes on my Instagram page: 'the_style_therapy"
