Onam is the state Harvest Festival of Kerala. Malayalee women take great pride in wearing the traditional Kasavu Saree during this festival. The Kasavu Saree is a white or offwhite cotton Saree with a gold border. The gold border is either woven out of pure gold plated, copper coated or gold colored threads. The fabric of Saree is mostly cotton however these days such Sarees are also made in Cotton SIlk, Silk etc. Simple designs adorn the bottom of these saris, while at times small peacock, mango, elephants or temple designs embellish the pallu.
I wore this Kasavu Saree for an Onam lunch at a friends. I paired it with an open back blouse to give a modern twist to the otherwise simple and traditional look. A traditional Kasavu Saree is always worn with gold jewellery to complete the look.
I had this blouse made at Mrunal's Boutique in Oman. The quality and finish of the blouse is impeccable. Even though Saree is a traditional attire, I find it extremely sexy. It accentuates a woman's curves and shows just the right amount of skin. Pair it with a hot blouse and you are ready to set the room on fire.
