My baby Liam was born in January 2015. While I was pregnant with my first born Joshua, I worked out regularly and was fit throughout my pregnancy. However I let myself go the second time around. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed every moment of indulging in those warm double chocolate cakes and cheesy pizzas. I ate whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted and didn’t control or restrict myself to anything. I knew I was gaining weight and after a point I didn’t really care. Atleast when you had the belly people knew you were pregnant. It looked cute, the belly, the cheeks, the whole chubby look. N since I have been skinny and fit most of my adult life, my look was a welcome change for most of my family and friends. I was 79 kilos when I gave birth to Liam, a massive 26 kg increase from my pre pregnancy weight of 53 kilos.
Since I was nursing Liam, even after delivery I was always hungry. I wanted to give Liam the best nutrition and therefore felt responsible for eating whatever I was told to eat. All though according to the weighing scales I had initially lost about 7-8 kilos after delivery, I still had a long way to go to reach my pre-pregnancy weight.
I loathed taking photos of myself as I hated the way I looked. In hindsight I probably should have taken more photos then so that I could document my weightloss from the beginning. This photo of me was taken in April while we went with a bunch of our friends to stay at The View, in Jebal Akdar. When I saw these photos, its then that I decided that Enough was ENOUGH!
We were travelling the rest of April till mid May. Its towards the end of May that I decided to start working out again. No doubt there are days when I have had 3 hours of sleep and I have had to push myself to go exercise and then there are days when I am up and all motivated to burn some of those calories. It has been hard work, sheer determination and persistence but I am finally fitting into my pre-pregnancy clothes again!
These are the same shorts I wore in the photo above. I am ecstatic that all the hard work has paid off. Keep following my blog while I post about my exercise routines, eating habits and healthy recipes.
