We just did a trip with the family to Dubai. Packing is completely different when it comes to travelling with family and travelling by yourself. When you are with kids, comfort and easiness to maneuver is prime. I will be putting up a post on travel essentials when travelling with children once I am back from my next trip.
In the meantime these are some of the essentials I pack for a summer getaway.
SPF 100 for the face
It is very important to wear a strong SPF on your face. It helps prolong fine lines and freckles, protects the face against brown spots and skin discolorations caused by the sun and not to mention protection against the harsh UV rays. I swear by the Bioderma Photoderm Max for the face.
Tanning oil with SPF
I am Indian with brown skin. T...
Gaurav Gupta is famous for his avant garde, forward looking, mythological and ground breaking designs. His clothes are perfectly sculpted to flatter a woman's body. His masterpieces are a perfect harmony of ancient day inspirations and futuristic compositions. When you desire to make a statement or want to be revolutionary, you think Gaurav Gupta.
Recently Gaurav Gupta was in Oman for the Signature Oman Couture Show which was managed by Mosaic Events and thanks to Krupa my dear friend, I had the opportunity to sit down with him for a candid talk. Here are some of the questions I asked and his replies:
Me: You are one of the top ace Fashion Designers not only in India but across the world, you have dressed actors at the Oscars, Grammy's, Emmy's and Cannes. What I love mos...
Valentines Day is around the corner and even though I believe there shouldn’t be an ordained day to celebrate love, if you know me well enough you would know that I just need an excuse, any reason to celebrate. I am a hopeless romantic who believes in fairy tales and happy endings. And why not, in a world of doom and gloom, you need people like me to keep romance and hope alive.
I have been with my hubby for nearly 10 years now and I still blush and have goosebumps when he sweeps me of my feet or catches me with some other surprise.
Now don’t get me wrong, even though I am a hopeless romantic, Rohit is the tails end to that rope. Two people of the same star sign couldn’t be more different in terms of personality. He still manages to surprise me every once in a while and I guess that’s wha...
Most people I know, male and female included aspire for that flat tummy or some strive a notch higher and would love to see some abs. Abs is a phenomenon which has been promoted by the fitness marketing mafia like formula has been in the baby industry. Leaving aside the but obvious aesthetic beauty and sense of awe when you see a person with a six pack, a strong core is the fundamental powerhouse of your body. A sturdy core translates to improved posture, reduced back pain and enhanced sports/daily performance.
I cannot begin to express how grateful and excited I am to see myself in this pic. This is me 9 months post delivery of my second baby. Having gained 26 kilos this time around, I definitely had a lot of belly fat to loose. So you can imagine how stoked I am to see the abs develop...
Basically not the typical camping types but wouldn’t mind glamping, then you will love the Desert Nights Camp at the Wahiba Sands in Oman. I have done my bit of camping in my younger days but given the choice, I would definitely opt for some basic luxuries. Its ironic that one would use basic and luxury in the same sentence but hey, that’s me.
I was quite reluctant pondering over how hot it would be (we went during the Eid weekend (24-26th of September), but I have to admit the weather was really good in the evenings. The temperature during the day was really hot, n I mean really hot but it was cool and windy under the shaded trees.
Ever since Josh has been playing with his lego pirate ship he has been fascinated with large ships (mainly of the pirate type!). Imagine his excitment when we surprised him with the news that he will be visiting an actual naval warship! Four Indian Navy vessels are currently visiting Oman and are docked at the Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat. With the help of our uncle, we were granted permission to go visit one of these magnificent and fasinating metallic beauties.
Our destination was the INS Tabar. We were provided with a private tour of the ‘Battle Axe’ (literal translation of the Tabar) by one of her Officers. He walked us through the ship explaining its role and its impressive array of weaponary. INS Tabar, a Talwar class warship, was specifically c...
What come’s to mind when you hear ‘Crafty’? For me it resonates with:
This sums up ‘The Crafty Kitchen’, a relative newcomer to Oman's growing restaurant scene. Located in the vibrant heart of the MQ shopping area, off one of its quaint alleyways, The Crafty Kitchen, with its delightful décor, charismatic wall art and its offering of exotic, luxurious teas from around the world, is a much welcome addition to Omans' cafe scene.
I was invited to Crafty along with few bloggers from Oman for a culinary experience by their Executive Chef Jeremy Steele. I've found that experimenting in the kitchen has always been very therapeutic and this was a great opportunity for me to learn something new whilst dining on some scrumptous food!...
It has been 3 weeks since I've been training with Coach Yoka at the Elite Gym. the bodies of his trainees transform. I never knew so many of these muscles existed in my body. I never knew I could push myself to do some of lifts I do now. I never knew I had it in me. The list of ‘I never knew’ can go on and on. It truly has been a life altering 3 weeks for me. Not only does it require a 100% dedication but along with it perseverance and the drive to achieve results. I must say it definitely helps that my hubby is also training with the Coach and therefore understands the pain I go through. Our eating habits have improved drastically and these days our conversations generally revolve around which muscle group we worked.
I train 3 times a week with the Coach. Ideally I would like to tr...
When it came to cartoons or toys, especially those which boys played with, I can honestly confess: I knew nothing! I always grew up liking very girlie toys. Once I knew I was having a baby, I tried to do the thing most parents did, familiarize myself with nursery rhymes, get acquainted with the latest cartoons and childrens books. I was quite proud of myself up until now thinking I was conversant with most of the cartoons my four year old wanted to watch until my hubby came home from a work trip with this!
The TRASH PACK! For the life of me I hadn’t heard of this amusing yet disgusting collection of toys that are a big craze amongst the kids these days. I had to take a real close look into the can to gather as much information as I could regarding these formidable figurines in front...
Onam is the state festival of Kerala that is celebrated by all Malayalees. Being a harvest festival it is celebrated across the state by the Hindus, Christians and Muslims alike. It is associated with a number of traditional customs like the Onam Sadhya, Pookalam, Vallam Kali (Boat race), Puli Kali etc. Being an expat, I look forward to celebrating most Indian traditions and festivals as not only do I get to dress up according to the occasion, it also keeps me connected to my roots. One can never get tired of the bright and lovely colors associated with the various Indian attires.
Onam is celebrated across a few days, but the most important day is Thiruonam which fell on the 28th of August this year. People are either invited to their friends or relatives houses for the customary Onam Sad...
